Learn the Ancient Art of Belly Dance
For the student, modern Belly Dance is a language, a means of self-expression. It offers personal development through dance, rhythm, music & exercise. The music itself reflects thousands of regional customs, practices & celebrations. The benefits are built into the steps themselves; the art came first & the exercise value followed as part of it. Juanita & Rajaa both offer classes in the Pensacola area. Rajaa teaches at the Bayview Community Center. Her email: rajaadance@yahoo.com. Juanita teaches at Pensacola Junior College through their Continuing Education program (850) 484-1797. Learn to dance in a relaxed, supportive atmosphere! New class begins in January! 10 weeks -$40. Tuesday evenings, 6:30-8:00. #RO2304. Register through PJC.
Teaching since 1991, Juanita currently offers instruction to women's groups, as an introduction to the Art of Middle Eastern style Belly Dance; or just for fun or exercise at theme parties, bridal showers, bachelorette parties & other ladies' gatherings. Juanita and Saraab have been performing in the Pensacola area for several years. Repertoire includes various Middle Eastern and Belly Dance styles including Egyptian, Turkish, Moorish & Gypsy (Rom) influenced styles. Some of the performance music, costumes & choreographies are based on tradition & others are more contemporary. They have performed for several public events such as the Great Gulf Coast Arts Festival, Pensacola Jr. College, First Night Pensacola, University of West Florida, public schools, fundraisers, various festivals, renaissance festivals, international & cultural events. Private events include birthday celebrations, dinner parties, conventions, reunions, bridal parties & wedding celebrations. |
